Dear Concord Neighbors,
I am Karlen Reed, and I ask for your vote to serve on the Concord Select Board.
Why am I running? Because I believe in Concord and I believe in helping my community. Over half of my 30+ years as a lawyer have been spent working in public service. Now retired, I am serving the Town of Concord — as Chair of the Town’s PEG Access Advisory cable TV committee (5th year member), as Election Warden for the Town Clerk’s Office, and as an active member of the League of Women Voters of Concord-Carlisle. I have the experience, energy, and ability to serve on the Select Board as we move forward.
We have numerous challenges ahead. People move to Concord for our excellent school system, for our wonderful municipal services, and for our rich cultural heritage, yet these enhancements come at a price to the taxpayer. Our desires for recreational opportunities and open space compete with our desires for a more diverse community and more affordable housing. We need to make Concord more sustainable and less reliant on fossil fuels, while encouraging our small businesses to thrive. And we need to improve our telecommunication systems and otherwise prepare for the 2025 celebration of the Shot Heard Round the World.
My goal in serving Concord on the Select Board is to meet these challenges, balancing our Town’s wants and needs with our budget and timelines.
You can reach me at Karlen4Concord@gmail.com.
Please vote for me on or before March 28, 2023. Mail-in ballot applications for all 2023 town elections are now available from the Town Clerk’s Office and on the back of the Town Census form.
Thank you. Making Concord Better.
Karlen Reed
