Robert Meltzer’s argument (Opinions, April 27, 2023) for opposing Concord’s support for Ukraine based on historic Ukrainian atrocities is absurd. Using his logic, the United States should not have supported France or England against Nazi aggression in World War II due to colonial atrocities in Algeria and India, respectively. Standing for Ukraine is not a statement of support for its historic actions. As one Concordian, my position is based on what is happening in the world today. I stand for Ukraine to condemn Russia’s vicious invasion of a sovereign nation, an invasion that violates international laws and norms.
