How would you define Concord character? While there are multiple answers to this, surely many would agree that Concord’s character derives in part from the physical beauty of its historic homes and buildings, many of which have been preserved through the efforts of conscientious citizens. To recognize these achievements, the Concord Historical Commission is pleased to host the 2023 Preservation Awards on Thursday, May 25 at the Goodwin Forum of the Concord Free Public Library from 6:30-8 p.m.
The preservation awards program, launched in 2016, seeks to honor property owners, architects, contractors, local organizations, and individuals for their efforts to maintain and enhance the architectural, historical and cultural heritage of Concord. Awards will be presented in six categories: sensitive addition/alteration; adaptive reuse; appropriate new construction; proper rehabilitation/restoration; landscape preservation and life achievement/preservationist of the year.
Past honorees have included Trinity Episcopal Church, Concord Academy, and the Edward Emerson Studio at a private Lowell Road home.
