The Adrian Martinez Classic is a true Concord event, taking the work of a community to pull it off — many different groups and individuals in the town are instrumental.
I would like to thank Adam Lapointe, Anna McKeown, and the staff of the Concord Recreation Department for their support and planning; the Concord Police for crowd-control; CMLP for ensuring adequate power; the Concord DPW for making Emerson look so beautiful and for helping with setup and cleanup; Eileen Blanchette in the town manager’s office; Aaron Joncas and the athletics staff at Concord-Carlisle High School; Hanna Bruno and Mary McCabe, the head cross-country and track coaches at CCHS; and the helpful army of parent and student volunteers.
We had sun, rain, and rainbows; the fastest 5K ever run on Concord’s track (13:20 by John Renwiecki); and tremendous races from several Olympians (and no doubt some future Olympians). Most all, we had a fantastic time, raising significant funds to support the Adrian Martinez Scholarship fund and the CCHS track & field programs. Thanks to all who volunteered, participated, or spectated — we can’t wait to see you all next year!
