Concord Housing Authority residents Fatima Mezdad and Jason Lu have won scholarships from the New England Regional Council of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials.
Mezdad will attend the Boston Islamic Seminary as a candidate for a masters degree in Islamic Religious Leadership. She participated in the 125th Boston Marathon with the Beth Israel Lahey Health charity and raised funds to travel to Turkey where she teamed up with a local charity to volunteer with earthquake relief.
Jason Lu, a graduating senior from Concord-Carlisle High School, will attend Princeton University in the fall. He received the Presidential Service Award in 2021 from Concord Academy Summer Camp and regularly participates in the Concord Carlisle Community Buddy Program. He is graduating with a weighted CPA of 4.39.
NERC/NAHRO established the Allan R. Andrews Scholarship Fund in 1993 in memory of “the dedicated, creative, and effective administrator of the Springfield, Massachusetts, Redevelopment Authority.” Andrews served NERC for more than 30 years, including as president and on the executive board and national NAHRO Board of Governors.
