The American Heart Association has honored Emerson Health with the Gold Plus Get With the Guidelines Stroke Quality Achievement Award in recognition of the hospital’s expertise in caring for stroke patients.
Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and a leading cause of disability among Americans.
New research from the American Heart Association shows the rate of stroke is steadily rising among Americans younger than 49. Every forty seconds, someone in the United States suffers a stroke. Nearly 795,000 people suffer from stroke each year. Early stroke detection and treatment are essential to improve survival, minimize disability, and help patients recover faster.
“We are pleased to receive the highest honor by the American Heart Association for our work to reduce the debilitating effects of stroke and help patients have the best outcomes,” said Christine Schuster, RN, MBA, President and CEO of Emerson Health. “Every patient who comes to Emerson with stroke symptoms receives the highest quality care based on the latest guidelines that our clinical teams are continually trained on.”
