Charlotte Ann “Chuckie” Jolle, 83

August 1, 2023

Charlotte Ann “Chuckie” Jolle, 83, of Concord, formerly of Quincy and Weymouth, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023 at Emerson Hospital with her daughters by her side.

She was born on February 11, 1940 in the city of Quincy, where she spent over 40 years. In 1971, she was hired as Director of Head Start in Quincy, a federal program for low-income preschool children, as part of Quincy Community Action Programs (QPAC). As Director, without any increase in federal funding, she transformed Head Start from an 8-week summer session into a 9-month program. In March of 1980, she was honored at the White House by President Jimmy Carter and Lady Bird Johnson for her dedication and commitment to Head Start. In 1981, as part of QPAC, she was named Fuel Assistance Director, a federal program that provided oil to low-income families for winter heat.

Chuckie loved the beach and her favorite fried clams at the Clam Box, Wollaston.  She also loved a good adventure. She was a passionate Boston sports fan, especially her beloved Red Sox.  She spent over 5 dedicated years with season tickets in the bleachers cheering during the Yaz years.  She adored flowers, butterflies, ice cream and her many dogs over the years Rags, Pepsi, Candy and Ozzy.

Most of all, Charlotte was devoted to her family.  She leaves behind two daughters, Theresa Jolle of Concord and Michelle O’Toole and her husband Brian of Concord.  She especially cherished her grandson Brady, supporting all his many activities and accomplishments.

She was a devoted sister to Sandra Correa, Joanne Malley, the late Barbara Kennedy, the late Maryellen Malley, and the late Carol Malley all from Quincy and Weymouth.  Charlotte is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.

Charlotte had a huge heart along with her beautiful blue eyes and big smile.  She was dearly loved.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering planned for Sunday, August 13th from 1 to 3 pm, with a time of remembrance beginning at 2:30 pm at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, MA.
