Kathleen Kirschbaum Harvie, longtime resident of Concord, Massachusetts, died September 8, 2023.
“Kaye” was born on November 28, 1931, the daughter of Charles and Marion (Drew) Kirschbaum, and spent her childhood years in Arlington, MA. She graduated from Bates College (Maine) in 1953; lived and worked in postwar Tokyo, Japan; and moved to Concord in 1962, where she lived for nearly 60 years. Kaye worked as a teacher’s aide at Willard Elementary School and then as a copy editor for D.C. Heath Publishers from 1976 until her retirement in 1991. A third generation Unitarian Universalist, Kaye was a deacon of First Parish in Concord, where she spent her retirement years as the volunteer church office receptionist.
Kaye is survived by two daughters, Kim K. Crawford Harvie and her wife Kem Morehead of Concord and Wellfleet, MA, and Lisa Drew and her husband Reeven Elfman of Portland, ME. Survivors also include five granddaughters, Courtney Applegate (Jay), Jamie G. Crawford (Phil), Jessye M. Crawford (Markus), Elizabeth C. Mcllwain and Emma K. Dobson (Joshua).
Immediate family will gather for a private graveside service in Littleton, Massachusetts.
