Rodney P. Andrews, 89

Rodney P. Andrews, 89, of Concord, passed away at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. He was the devoted husband for 58 years of Judith A. (Forest) Andrews. 

Born on March 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Edward and Edna (Payne) Andrews. Rodney was raised in Allston, and was a graduate of The English High School in Boston. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, 7th Infantry during the Korean War, and was stationed in Korea as a Morse Code Operator. 

Rodney was co-owner of Pools By Andrews in Billerica, MA, Minuteman Stables & Pilgrim Farms Management. Partnered with his endeared brother, Edward W. Andrews, they excelled in both the swimming pool and harness horse racing industries. 

He was a Concord Minuteman reenactor during the 1975 bicentennial celebrations. Rodney was also a dedicated donor to many wildlife charities & local establishments. He was an enthusiastic Boston sports fan, who also loved horses, golfing & feeding our local birds. 

In addition to his wife, Judy, he leaves behind his beloved daughter, Laura Andrews Gelfand and her husband Hugh J. Gelfand of Concord, along with his brother, Edward W. Andrews and his late wife Lee of Carlisle. 

Family and friends are invited to gather for a period of visitation in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Wednesday, September 20th from 11 am to 12 pm, concluding with a time of remembrance. Burial will follow with U.S. Army military honors at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. 

Concord’s Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in recognition of Rodney’s honorable military service.
