On Sunday, September 24, National Gold Star Families Day, The Friends of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery will dedicate its gift of a permanent granite bench honoring Concord’s Gold Star families.
The ceremony will be held in the Sleepy Hollow’s Veterans’ Bill’s Garden flagpole at Star Circle on Goldenrod Hill, at 1:30 p.m., rain or shine.
Honored guests will include Concord’s Gold Star Families who will be presented with the Medal of Liberty and accompanying citation by local veterans’ officials. The medal, bestowed through the commonwealth’s governor’s office, honors family members for their loss and sacrifice.
The Friends invite the community, especially veterans, to share in and to be welcomed to this important recognition.
