Frank Russell Wolf (Russ), age 76, passed away on September 27th in Concord, MA. He was the devoted husband of Martha Williams Gilpatrick (Marty) for 43 years.
Born on August 27th, 1947, he was raised in Westfield, NJ, by devoted parents Frank and Helen, joining older sister Judith Anne, later welcoming younger sister Barbara Jane. He had a rich family life and relished being surrounded by loving, often opinionated, women.
His childhood was highlighted with joyful summers at the family cottage in New Jersey, annual trips to family farms in Ohio and Illinois, and engines of all sorts. He loved water activities, especially waterskiing, and his ski boat named Jolly Mon, echoed his approach to life.
He moved to Boston in 1968 and completed degrees in medicine and public health. Immediately enamored by the lakes, mountains, and seashore that greater Boston offered, he happily considered it home for the rest of his life.
He had a long career as a primary care physician and director of the Lowell outpatient VA clinic, proud of his noble profession. He was beloved by colleagues, coworkers, and patients. It was through medicine that he met Marty, a fellow physician. They married, moved to Concord in 1980, and raised a family together.
Russ had a zest for life that was infectious, and undefeatable energy to match. He will be sorely missed for his smile and laugh, shared generously without reservation. He will be remembered as an extraordinarily kind man who cared deeply about the people in his life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Jennifer Williams Wolf, Julie Frances Wolf, Molly Wolf Mascia and husband Patrick Michael Mascia, grandchildren Eleanor Wolf Mascia and Wolf Michael Mascia, niece Kerri Coreen Sands, devoted puppy Sam, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by sister Judith and daughter Megan Elizabeth Wolf. He will be buried alongside Megan in Concord.
Friends and family are invited to gather for visiting hours on Friday, October 13th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap Street, Concord. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 54 Walden Street, Concord, MA, followed by a public reception in the church hall at 12:00 p.m.
