Subscriptions are available for the 2023-2024 season of The Concord Players, with performances that include The Play That Goes Wrong, Brighton Beach Memoirs and The Music Man.
The Play That Goes Wrong runs November 3-18. Best described as ‘Fawlty Towers’ meets ‘Noises Off,’ this hilarious play-within-a-play received the 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
The Cornley Drama Society is prepared to open their new production of The Murder at Haversham Manor, an early 1900’s murder mystery. The members of the society had a string of bad luck with previous productions and are excited to have finally gotten it ‘right.’ As the show progresses, a series of unfortunate events threaten the performance. Nevertheless, the show must (and does) go on!
Performances: November 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. on November 12.
Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs runs February 9-24, 2024. This coming-of-age comedy focuses on a teenager obsessed with baseball, girls, and writing (not in that order) while living at home in 1937 Brooklyn. His widowed aunt and her two daughters have come to live with the family, stretching their resources and testing their relationships. With fear and violence mounting in Europe, their family dynamics are about to change. Performances: February 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 8 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. on February 18.
The spring musical presents a family favorite, The Music Man, from April 26-May 11, 2024. A fast-talking traveling salesman arrives in River City, Iowa in 1912 to sell the townsfolk on the idea of forming a kids’ band. The town librarian suspects that the charismatic “professor” doesn’t really know a flute from a flugelhorn and is up to… what, exactly? Performances: April 26, 27, May 3, 4, 10 and 11 at 8 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. on May 5.
