Maryanne (Baratta) Napier, 87

November 6, 2023

Maryanne (Baratta) Napier, 87, of Concord, MA died peacefully on September 18, 2023. She was born in Winchester, MA on December 12, 1935 to Anna (Reilly) and Hugo Baratta. Maryanne grew up in Arlington, MA and spent her summers at Swifts Beach. She graduated from high school from Marycliff Academy where she was captain of her basketball team, and finished College at Marymount in Tarrytown, NY.

Maryanne (also fondly known as “Ninnie” – named by her first grandchild) was a Concord resident for over fifty years, where she raised her three children and remained until her passing. She was the matriarch of her large Irish/Italian family and a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family always came first to her.  She was a gracious hostess who loved entertaining family and friends. She made everyone feel like family with her generosity and candor.

Maryanne worked for over twenty years in claims management for W.R. Grace, TJ Maxx and Meadowbrook TPA Associates. She loved that her work gave her the ability to travel and visit her family. An avid Boston sports fan, she never missed a game. She passed her love of sports and Boston Sports teams to her grandchildren – no matter where they lived at the time.

Maryanne is survived by her children, Norman C. (Michael) Napier IV and his wife Theresa Quadros of Kuwait, Christine (Napier) Stephenson and her husband Lloyd Stephenson of Virginia, Kimberly Napier and her husband Ron Renaud of Carlisle. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Craig Stephenson, Lauren (Stephenson) Esposito and her husband Nick, Nicole Quadros, Colin Stephenson and his wife Maggie, Kasey Fitzpatrick, Jenna Fitzpatrick, Devin Renaud and Emilio Renaud; as well as three great grandchildren: Mia, Murdoch and Beau Esposito.

Maryanne is also survived by her brother, Paul Baratta and wife Mary Ann of Belmont, MA. She was a mother and grandmother to many but also a friend – leaving behind her longest and best friend of 85 years, Rosemary (Fitzpatrick) Lionetta of Concord, MA.

Maryanne is pre-deceased by her brother Charlie and her great granddaughter Gentry Esposito.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Maryanne’s life on December 16th at Holy Family Parish in Concord, MA at 11:00 am, followed by a reception at The Colonial Inn. Everyone is welcome to come wearing their favorite Boston Sports Team ‘jersey’. A private burial will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
