Lynne Palmer (Merrill) (Abromeit) Shadle, 75

November 24, 2023

Lynne Palmer (Merrill) (Abromeit) Shadle, age 75 of Mashpee, Massachusetts, formerly of Carlisle, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 20th, 2023 at her home on Cape Cod. Lynne was the proud wife of Kurt P. Shadle.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 3, 1948, she was the daughter of Charles N. Palmer and Carmella (Midge) Santini Palmer and the little sister of the late June Palmer Hasset.

Lynne graduated from Rhode Island College early and got her Masters from Syracuse University, where she met her first husband Robert E. Merrill Jr. of Hingham, Massachusetts. The two were married in 1972 and had one daughter Katherine.

After Robert’s sudden death at 31 years old, Lynne later married Richard H. Abromeit of Carlisle, Massachusetts and had a second daughter Susan Palmer Abromeit, currently of New York City. The couple was married 26 years.

Lynne was a Guidance Counselor for many years at the Bromfield School in Harvard, Mass., where she loved helping students with the college process.

Lynne met Kurt Shadle in 2008 and they married in 2013. The couple lived in New Hope, Pennsylvania, before building a home near Park City, Utah where they skied daily for years.

The couple moved back East in 2021, to be closer to Kurt’s two boys Andrew and Will Shadle of New Jersey and Lynne’s daughter Kate Merrill Dunham, her son-in-law Mike Dunham and her beloved granddaughters Addison and Kayden Dunham of Concord.

Lynne and Kurt had recently moved into their new house they built together in Mashpee and celebrated ten years of marriage in August.

Until the day she died, Lynne spent hours on the tennis court and running in her beautiful new neighborhood, where she could always be found walking their yellow lab Hadley.

Lynne’s bright smile and infectious positivity was cherished by all who knew and loved her. She loved to tell everyone, she woke up everyday feeling positive and with her glass half-full.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Lynne for visiting hours on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap Street, Concord. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 11:00 am in The First Parish in Concord, 20 Lexington Road, Concord. Burial in Green Cemetery, Carlisle, will be private.
