Jeanne Dorothy Fitzgibbons, 92, passed away at home in Concord, MA on November 24, 2023. She was born in Concord to Timothy and Winifred (O’Neill) Moynihan and lived her entire life in the town that she loved.
Jeanne is survived by five children and their spouses: Mary “Molly” Frank (Peter) of Maynard; Joseph Fitzgibbons (Goretti) of Chelmsford; Jeremiah “Jay” Fitzgibbons (Karen Anderson) of Newton; Kathy Flynn (Paul) of Maynard; and Jeannie Fitzgibbons (Paul Grasso) of Concord. “Gram” will be dearly missed by her 13 grandchildren – Peter, Joseph, Madeline, Lauren, Christopher, Erik, John, Kelly, Meghan, Lydia, Erin, Joe and Jack. She was looking forward to her first great-grandchild’s arrival in February 2024.
Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Joseph Thomas Fitzgibbons (“Fitzy”), a Concord police officer, who died in 1988, and by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Jeanne and Fitzy were lovingly devoted throughout 29 years of marriage. They settled in Concord and raised their close-knit family. They enjoyed time with their children, playing cards with friends and laughing together.
A lifelong reader, Jeanne graduated from Concord Public Schools and Burdett College. For many years, she worked as an administrative assistant at International Salt Company, Minuteman Arc and Concord Public Schools. She also volunteered at St. Bernard’s Church and Holy Family Parish, Concord. Later, she volunteered at Concord Council on Aging.
Jeanne was a kind soul with a sunny disposition and a smile for everyone, with friends in many circles, both old and new, who were all important to her. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who never missed a family gathering and cherished every visit, birthday, graduation, wedding and holiday. Her annual arrival at the family holiday brunch wearing a Christmas hat covered in blinking lights will never be forgotten.
Jeanne’s family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Thursday, November 30 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord.
