The CCHS boys varsity hockey team finished the regular season with a sparkling 16-4 record. With the playoffs upon us, here’s a look back at this record-setting season.
In December, the CC squad stunned a crowd of over 1,500 fans when they beat Lincoln-Sudbury, 6-3, in the Warriors 4 Warriors/Patriots 4 Patriots game. The annual event, packed with high emotions and friendly competition, raised over $120,000 for the 1LT. Scott F. Milley Memorial Foundation.
After that momentous victory, the boys swept Acton-Boxborough in three games, including the late-December Battle Road Classic, from which the CC boys emerged as champions for the second straight year.
The Patriots beat the Cougars 3-1 on New Year’s Eve in Arlington. (If you don’t know much about Massachusetts high school hockey history, let’s just say that doesn’t happen very often.)
In early January, the Patriots handily bested the top-ranked Tewksbury Redmen, 5-2.
Next up were the tough and gritty North Andover Scarlet Knights — and a 2-0 CC shutout.
A few days later, CC traveled to Southie and pulled off a 2-1 victory over Boston Latin, its first-ever victory at that rink.
Concord-Carlisle toasted six seniors on January 27 as they led the team to a solid 3-1 victory in front of a record-breaking home crowd.
Near the end of the season’s schedule, the Patriots faced Bedford in the Battle of the Edge and came away with a decisive 5-0 win.
