Ruth Esther (Johnson) Jasinski died peacefully on March 20, 2024, at age 91 in Concord, surrounded by her children and their families.
Born Ruth Johnson in Minneapolis, she met Ralph, her future husband of 60 years, at Edison High School, and together they attended the University of Minnesota and started their family. While raising four children and supporting her Swedish cultural heritage, Ruth also worked as a dental hygienist, rising to become president of the Minnesota Dental Hygienists’ Association. After Ralph’s successful turn as the general manager of the 1980 Olympic Hockey team, the family relocated to suburban Boston in 1984, and the couple eventually retired to Florida and New Hampshire.
Following Ralph’s death in 2014, Ruth settled into Concord near her son and daughter. Ruth was a devoted mother, tirelessly juggling work and supporting her kids through never-ending seasons of hockey, soccer, and figure skating. A breast cancer survivor, she was warm and caring, with a wry sense of humor and a quick laugh, and loved bridge, cross-country skiing, entertaining at home (and celebrating any occasion), and baking for the holidays.
Ruth is survived by her children, Tom and his wife Susan (Rerat), John, Nancy and her husband Phil Lotane, and Jim and his wife Mary Anne (Hourihan), and five grandchildren, Ariel, Eric, Katie, Charlie, and Anna.
The family is very grateful for the care Ruth received from the staff at Newbury Court and The Gardens.
Relatives and friends will gather for Ruth’s Funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 26 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will be private at a later date.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emerson Health Foundation, 133 ORNAC, Concord MA 01742.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord. To share a memory or to offer a condolence in Ruth’s online guestbook, please visit www.DeeFuneralHome.com.
