During three separate sessions, the League of Women Voters of Concord-Carlisle held comprehensive reviews of upcoming warrant articles. These events can be easily reviewed by going to the LWVCC website or to Minuteman Media Network’s YouTube Channel. Unlike the valuable public hearings or the Warrant Review Document (sent to each household), these sessions provide more thorough presentations and discussions of many of the most complex items.
The first review sessions covered articles 20, 23, 24 (school budgets), 16 and 17 (public works), with commentary from Eric Dahlberg of the Finance Committee. The second program reviewed Article 13 (Concord250), Article 34 (MBTA Communities Act), Article 40 (Community Preservation Committee), Article 31 (Climate Action Committee), and a review of the Special Town Meeting article to be discussed on Wednesday evening, May 1, at 7:10 p.m. Finally, the third event covered Article 22 (Ellen Garrison), Article 26 (Town Meeting study committee), Articles 27, 28, and 29 (which make recommendations about changes in Town Meeting), and Articles 38 and 39 (which make recommendations for the safe location of two new cell towers). Vigorous discussion and an opportunity for clarification occurred throughout.
It is not necessary, of course, to watch almost six hours of tapes, but you can find those articles that interest you and review those discussions. Being thoroughly prepared for Town Meeting is always prudent, for many of the articles require careful consideration in advance of Town Meeting deliberations and votes.
Thank you for viewing these videos and please come to Town Meeting, which commences on April 29 at 7 p.m. in the high school and concludes on consecutive evenings until the business of our town’s legislative deliberations are complete.
