Judith A. (Forest) Andrews, 84, of Concord, passed away at Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence in Wayland on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. She was the beloved wife for 58 years of the late Rodney P. Andrews, who died in September of 2023.
Judy was born in Newton on July 20, 1939, as the daughter of the late Joseph and Violet (McGann) Forest. She grew up in a large family of ten siblings in Watertown.
After marrying Rod and settling in Concord, one of Judy’s favorite pleasures over the years was taking walks with her dogs in the woods of Concord and Carlisle. This daily routine brought her immense joy. She was a world traveler, taking trips with family and her many friends, and enjoyed a second residence in Pompano Beach, Florida.
For many years, Judy was devoted to her church, St. Irene Parish in Carlisle, where she was active with the Women’s Club, the Christmas Giving Tree program and organizing numerous theater trips for fellow parishioners. Always a lover of all things theater, there wasn’t a show she didn’t see. While spending time in Florida, Judy contributed her time to Women in Distress, a local domestic violence shelter.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor, larger than life personality, and her admiration for family and friends.
Judy leaves behind her dedicated daughter and son-in-law, Laura Andrews Gelfand and Hugh J. Gelfand of Concord, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather for a period of visitation in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center, on Friday, May 3rd from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., concluding with a time of remembrance. Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
Contributions in Judy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord. To share a remembrance or to offer a condolence in Judy’s online guestbook, please visit www.DeeFuneralHome.com.
