I think it bears pointing out that the School Committee chose both to reclaim its right to name the new middle school, which it had surrendered to the select committee a number of years ago, and to pursue a somewhat rushed process of looking at many possible names and “voting” on the possibilities — a month or so after the town warrant article was set for the meeting we’ve just had. It would seem they’re trying to show who’s in charge and they’re not to be pushed around. I’m not too optimistic they will necessarily give much weight to the enthusiasm for the Ellen Garrison name shown at the meeting.
