Cool, misty weather couldn’t stop the fleet of foot from turning out in force for the 16th annual Thoreau School Road Race.
The May 19 event, featuring a 5K and Kids Run through West Concord, drew nearly 250 participants.
“The event was started by a group of Thoreau parents and we’ve been happy to continue it both as a fundraiser and a great springtime community event,” Race Director Brian McNamara said.
“We get such great involvement from the school, the kids, and our sponsors.”
Recent Concord-Carlisle High School graduate Oz Turner won the 5K with a time of 18:17. The top female 5K runner: Somerville’s Rachel Aldrich, who finished in 22:15. In the Kids Run, Ethan Elms, Graham Stephenson and Byron Payne were the top three boys. The top three girls: Eva Krass, Sienna Nash, and Violet Nash.
Sponsors included Votacall, Heart Orthodontics, The Pesce Network at Dunkin’, Orange Theory, Wellness in Motion, The Senkler Pasley & Whitney team at Coldwell Banker, Marshall Farm, The Thoreau Club, Concord Teacakes, Woods Hill Table, West Concord Wine & Spirits, McWalter Volunteer Insurance, and The Tom & Joanne Team at Gibson Sotheby’s.
