Nina (Vitale) Huber Bernard, 68

Nina (Vitale) Huber Bernard, 68, of Concord, died on Saturday, June 8, 2024, of breast cancer after a recurrence of the disease in 2021, following 16 years of remission. 

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Paul Bernard, and her children, Hans Maxwell Huber, MD and his wife Caroline of Brooklyn, New York, and Lucy Caroline Huber of Ocala, Florida and Mattapoisett. She also leaves behind her former husband and good friend, Hans Peter Huber and his extended family; her two brothers, Alexander Vitale and wife Hope; Robert Vitale and wife Janice; her sister, Julia Vitale, and companion Milt Fredenburg; her three nieces, Cynthia, Celia Kucera (John), and Alexa; stepsons and daughters-in-law Reggie and Roberta Bernard, Eric and Troy Bernard; step-grandchildren Kennedy, Sara, Ryan, and Emerson Bernard; and last but not least the three beloved family dogs, Millie, Charles, and Dill.  She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Celia Vitale. 

Nina grew up in Woodbury, Long Island, New York, spending summers in Southold, New York. She attended St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, Tufts University, and Boston College Law School. Nina enjoyed working for many years as a law librarian at several well-known institutions and law firms in the Boston and Worcester area. She settled in Concord in 1995, where she was active in her children’s school activities, gardening, singing, and serving on the board of The Sounds of Stow Chorus and Orchestra, the ministry of Trinity Episcopal Church, travel, skiing, hiking, and enjoying the company of and correspondence with her large extended family and many friends. 

However, her true passion in life was her close relationships with numerous friends all over the country and the world. Her genuine curiosity and compassion for people made friendships come easily to her, and she treasured them all. 

Family and friends will gather for visiting hours at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Friday, June 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. Nina’s life will be celebrated during a funeral service on Saturday, June 15, at 10 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm Street.  Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.

Donations to honor Nina’s memory may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord or The Healing Garden in Harvard.
