Timothy James Moreau, of Maynard, formerly of Concord, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, after a long illness.
He is survived by his devoted daughter Catherine C. Moreau. Tim was the fourth child of the late Leon J. Moreau, Jr. and the late Mary (Dee) Moreau. Tim is also survived by his siblings, Tom (Rosetta) of Concord, Meg of Maynard, Lee (Mary Ann) of Landing, New Jersey, Mike (RoseAnne) of Maynard, Marc (Carmel) of Far Hills, New Jersey, and David (Carolyn) of Melrose. He is also survived by his former wife, Dawn McDavitt of Maynard. He was predeceased by his sister, Pamela (Moreau) Healy, and nephew, Phillip Moreau. He also leaves behind 11 nieces and nephews and 12 grand-nieces and nephews.
Tim graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1975, excelling as a three-sport athlete. He was named Outstanding Male Athlete for the Class of 1975. Tim was an integral part of the CCHS hockey team, making two trips to the State Tournament in the Old Boston Garden. During Tim’s senior year in 1974-1975, he was named Dual County League Co-MVP and the Boston Globe’s All-Scholastic Award Winner. In addition, Tim was awarded the Charles Sheehan Award as Team MVP.
Tim was a tri-captain of varsity football under Coach Al Robichaud. He was the winner of the Richard Elson Award as Team MVP. In the spring, Tim played varsity baseball, helping to bring the team to the State Tournament. Tim was inducted into the CCHS Hall of Fame, an honor he treasured from his years at CCHS.
After graduation, Tim attended Ithaca College, then transferred to Bridgewater State College, playing hockey. He earned mention in the Guinness Book of World Records for assists on the first-ever score by a goalie in college hockey.
He went on to play league hockey for several years in Montana. After returning from Montana, Tim worked for the family trucking business and Nuclear Metals.
Tim’s pride and joy was his daughter, Catherine. He was so proud of all she accomplished. She was devoted to him and a source of great comfort and strength through his long illness.
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Thursday, July 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Tim’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 19, at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
