David Rohan, 66

July 22, 2024

David Rohan, 66, a lifelong resident of Concord, passed away on July 4, 2024.

He was born in Concord on March 4, 1958, the son of the late George and Shirley (Rimbach) Rohan.

David graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School and later attended the Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he studied civil engineering. His long and dedicated career was deeply woven with the South Bridge Boathouse in Concord for 40 years. He rented canoes and kayaks and skillfully managed numerous repairs and projects. David was known for his craftsmanship and could often be found fixing an outboard motor or working on improvements around the boathouse property.

Beyond his professional life, David was an avid sportsman. His love for adventure was evident from playing hockey under his father’s coaching, George Rohan, to guiding and participating in heli-skiing in Alaska. He was also a passionate golfer and enjoyed his summers perfecting his game. In later years, David cherished his time on the Concord rivers, often accompanied by his beloved dog, Princeton, or a friend.

David was remembered for his kindness, generosity, and loyalty. He had a gentle soul and a deep love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his siblings Christine, Neil, and Martha Rohan, nieces Brianna Rohan and Erin Geno, and nephew Kyle Rohan.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember David on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the South Bridge Boat House, 496 Main Street. Burial at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the OARS’ 3 Rivers Campaign, an organization David passionately supported. This campaign works to protect the Assabet, Sudbury, and Concord rivers. Contributions will help continue David’s legacy of preserving these vital resources. Donations can be made through their website at https://www.oars3rivers.org/Donate.
