The pickup with its long trailer of lawn equipment parked near my home at 7:30 a.m. I fled from my front porch with my coffee and morning paper and closed all doors and windows against the coming noise and exhaust pollution. Even then, I knew I’d hear it, but I wouldn’t have to smell it.
What I heard was the quiet hum of an electric mower and the whisper of an electric trimmer. What a difference!
