Welcome back to school, Concord

By Celeste Katz Marston — Celeste@concordbridge.org

For some students, the first day of school will be a moment of joy; for others, jitters. For a good number, it will fall somewhere in between.

In our very special Back-to-School edition of The Concord Bridge, we touch on a broad array of themes we hope will connect with students, parents, and educators at every level of our system on this first day of class.

What should your child know going into kindergarten? How can we help tweens navigate the challenges of middle school? How should students make the most of their first year of high schoolor of college?

And do those rankings really matter? How much?

We hear from a new member of the administration and a returning coach who’s taking on a new challenge, and we talk about how to make all students feel welcome. We peek into a different kind of classroom, too — the kind that prepares teens to get behind the wheel (when they’re ready).

Plus, we hear directly from the superintendent of schools and a student member of the School Committee about their aspirations for the 2024-25 academic year.

The thrill of learning and discovery, the secrets and squabbles of youthful friendships, the highs and lows of the playing field. It’s all ahead of us…

Welcome back to school, Concord.
