It takes a village. Never was that sentiment clearer than on August 11 at the Concord250 Community Kick Off: 250 Days Until The 250th.
The Communication and Publicity Subcommittee 250 Executive Committee would like, therefore, to thank: the Concord Museum (Katy Morris and Allison Shilling), the town officials (Megan Zammuto, Shannon McAndrew, and the Concord Police); The Concord Free Public Library, which hosted lantern-making events; Minuteman Media Network, which filmed the entirety of the event and produced a YouTube rendering for all to enjoy; the Concord Recreation folks, who provided an invaluable portable microphone; the Concord and Acton Minutemen, Fife and Drum and Louisa May Alcott reenactors, who added color and energy throughout the event; the National Charity League for their creative face-painting; the camps that helped in the lantern-making before the event: Concord Recreation Camp and the Umbrella Arts Camp; and Margot Kimball and her Art for All creativity in making creative lanterns before and during the event.
Many Concord businesses donated terrific door prizes: Nashoba Brook Bakery, Barrow Bookstore, Concord Teacakes, Dotted i, Tina Labadini Designs, Graem, Verrill Farm, Priscilla’s Candy, West Village Tavern, Revolutionary Concord, Albright Art Supply, The Toy Box of Concord, Concord Visitor Center, West Concord Wine & Spirits, and the Colonial Inn.
And our speakers were superb, and we are grateful for their thoughts and presence throughout: Lisa Krassner, Rob Munro, Christa Collins, Sarah Stanton, state Rep. Carmine Gentile, state Rep. Simon Cataldo, and the Concord Select Board.
In all, a lively crowd gathered to light the way toward the 250th Celebration in April, as branded beach balls, corn hole, food trucks, and music made for a splendid evening.
Thanks to all who joined. We appreciate our village: Toby Chaudhuri, Brian Farber, Polly Meyer, Laurie Stefanov, and Priscilla Sturges.
