’Twas the night before school in Concord town,
Not a student was stirring, not a single frown.
Backpacks by the door were hung with care,
In hopes that the first day soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of recess danced in their heads.
From kindergartners to seniors, all felt the thrill,
Of a new school year in Concord, with time to fill.
Alcott, Willard, Thoreau, all set in their place,
Ready to welcome each eager face.
At Concord Middle, excitement was high,
And at CCHS, seniors aimed for the sky.
Moms and dads, with alarm clocks set,
Prepared for the hustle with hardly a fret.
Knowing tomorrow they’d head off to work,
While their kids to school, with not a quirk.
In Concord, the greatest town in the land,
Excitement for school was perfectly planned.
From Main Street to Monument, it was clear,
A new adventure was drawing near.
The moon on the pavement, silent and bright,
Made everything glow in the Concord night.
When what to their wondering eyes should appear,
But yellow school buses and cars drawing near.
Parents dropping off kids in a line,
With waves and goodbyes, right on time.
“Now off to school!” the parents did say,
“Make the most of this wonderful day!”
Snuggled in, under covers tight,
They whispered, “Goodnight, Concord,” into the night.
For tomorrow would bring new memories to make,
In the greatest town, where dreams awake.
