Concord Police log highlights: August 21-27

After a hiatus during which we formulated and formalized our policy on which public safety incidents we do and do not include in our weekly summary, our police log now returns to concordbridge.org.

Help us keep the community informed: If you have a public safety concern or see an incident in progress, email us at news@concordbridge.org or call or text (978) 505-2776.

1:10 p.m. An Old Stow Road resident told police she had a pop-up on her computer saying her Social Security number was compromised, and she clicked the link. Police drafted a report.

Thursday, August 22

5:03 a.m. A home burglary alarm company reported an alarm activation at a Monument Street house. Police responded and spoke to the resident, who later forwarded camera footage to police.

Friday, August 23

10:31 a.m. A 63-year-old Derry, New Hampshire, man was charged with fourth-offense drugged driving after a resident called police about a driver who “seemed off.” The caller said the shirtless man got out of his white Dodge Ram pickup on Main Street and was standing on the sidewalk “not going anywhere.” Police charged Richard Cincotta with driving under the influence of drugs, fourth offense, and possession of a Class B substance. Cincotta’s car was towed from the scene. District Court arraignment information was not available at press time.

6:20 p.m. A caller told police they saw three people in a baby blue classic convertible driving on the Concord Academy fields on Fairhaven Road, damaging the grass. An investigating officer confirmed “significant damage” to the fields but found that the suspects and the car were no longer on site.

8:52 p.m. A 32-year-old Concord woman is facing her second drunken-driving charge and multiple other charges after police say she was driving under the influence of alcohol with a child in the car. Ivania Teixeira was arrested after a citizen alerted police to an erratic driver on Bedford Street heading toward the center of town. Officers caught up to the Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Teixeira on Main Street near Keyes Road. After an investigation, police charged Teixeira with operating under the influence, second offense; child endangerment while OUI; leaving the scene of a crash with property damage; negligent operation of a car; marked lanes violations; and assault and battery on a police officer. Her car was towed, and Teixeira was later released from jail on $300 bail, posted by her brother. District Court arraignment information was not available at press time.

9:02 p.m. A Border Road resident reported someone had hit his parked car on Thoreau Street about an hour earlier and fled the scene. A witness left a note on the man’s car indicating their vehicle camera had captured the hit-and-run driver’s license plate and included a description of the car. Police were following up.

Saturday, August 24

8:35 a.m. A Nancy Road resident reported evidence of a hit-and-run car crash from the night before that had damaged her property and a street sign out front. The fleeing car took off after the crash, which happened between 8 and 9 p.m. the prior evening, but left its bumper behind. Police determined the crash was probably related to the August 23 OUI arrest of Ivania Teixeira.

7:24 p.m. A car crash on Lowell Road near Barretts Mill Road ended in arrest for an 80-year-old Middleboro woman who was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, driving with an open container of alcohol, and failing to stop. The other driver in the crash called to tell police they suspected the woman was intoxicated as the woman kept claiming her car was “malfunctioning.”

Sunday, August 25

12:48 a.m. A Main Street resident alerted police after learning someone from a blocked number had called her wife and said, “I’m watching you.” The caller told police her wife was out with friends when this happened, though the caller was unsure where, but the wife was not planning to return home that night. Police increased patrols around the couple’s Main Street home, which satisfied the caller’s wife.

1:46 p.m. A manager from the West Village Tavern on Commonwealth Avenue called police after a staff member found the ID and other property of a customer who had skipped out on their bill the night before. Restaurant workers said the person was at the time at Woods Hill Table across the street. Police responded and found two people, who were verbally trespassed against returning to the tavern and advised to pay their bill by 11 a.m. the next day or face charges.

11:32 a.m. A staff member of an Elm Street company called police to report their work email was hacked and that emails were sent to multiple clients requesting that money be put into a Wells Fargo account not owned by the company.
