A taste for genuine inclusivity on public event menus

September 13, 2024

As a Concord resident of over 20 years, a senior, and a person diagnosed with celiac disease, I battle the lack of inclusivity at community events.

Years ago, for one event, I was told if I didn’t partake of the offered food, to “stand in the back of the room.” That struck me as “back of the bus”!

An upcoming luncheon event at Council on Aging lists the food to be offered. The meal consists of “…lasagna, meatballs, ham and turkey, salad, and desserts.”

I suggest a better effort be made to accommodate those with dietary restrictions and a sincere effort at inclusivity!

Thank you.
