Concord police foiled an alleged would-be burglar who they said was “still” on the roof of Hutchins Farm trying to gain access when officers arrived following a 911 call reporting “a person standing on top of the farmstand with a flashlight.”
Police said surveillance cameras spotted Kyle Godsoe, 33, of Fitchburg, scaling the roof at Hutchins Farm, 754 Monument Street, around 10:30 p.m. on October 20.
A woman who called police after spotting the man on surveillance camera said she thought the person was “possibly attempting to break in.”
Officers found Godsoe and coaxed him down “without incident,” Capt. Brian Goldman told The Concord Bridge.
Goldman said Hutchins Farm has “been the target of several burglary attempts” in years past, and he said area farm stands are seen as “easy targets” by some thieves.
“A lot of them have old ways of doing things, tend to keep cash around, and [have] easily accessible safes,” Goldman said, noting upgrades to security helped catch the alleged thief this time.
Police charged Godsoe with attempted breaking and entering and possession of burglarious instruments, both felonies. He was also wanted on a misdemeanor warrant out of Boston.
Arraignment information was not immediately available Thursday.
