To celebrate the debut of Freedom’s Silhouette, an art installation in Monument Square, Concord residents and visitors gathered Saturday for an open-air concert by hip-hop group Terry Borderline and The Suns, organized by Concord250, as well as a mural-creation project called “Youth Upstanders,” organized by The Robbins House, a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness of Concord’s African, African American, and anti-slavery history.

The Thoreau silhouette and a companion piece of Ellen Garrison, the 19th-century Black educator, abolitionist, and early civil rights activist, are the work of artist Liz Helfer.
