After nearly 30 years with the town, Concord Municipal Light Plant Director David Wood is off to run Wellesley’s local utility.
In announcing Wood’s departure at a Select Board meeting earlier this month, Town Manager Kerry Lafleur said since coming to Concord “right out of completing his college studies as an intern,” Wood had “worked his way up through the CMLP organization.” He became director of the utility in 2010.
Highlights of Wood’s Concord career, she said, included “working on community goals of energy savings and greening the electric supply,” as well as technological upgrades and the “advance metering project, which when complete will allow for time-of-use metering, resulting in cost savings for customers … And so we do wish Dave well in the next step in his career.”
Concord Chief Technology Officer Jason Bulger took over as CMLP’s interim director last Saturday. He has previously worked with the Concord and Groton light plants and as the head of Concord’s broadband team.
Bulger will oversee CMLP operations during a search for a new director that will be preceded by an analysis of the current state of the utility as well as the gathering of feedback from employees and customers, town officials said.
