Wednesday, August 28
9:42 a.m. A Laurel Street resident complained about “a number” of illegally parked cars near Alcott Elementary on the first day of school.
10:34 a.m. A Sudbury Road caller asked to speak to the animal control officer about coyote removal companies.
7:11 p.m. A pet sitter on Monument Street called police after a mixed-breed, tan and brown dog in their care ran off toward nearby Hutchins Farm. The caretaker warned that the dog was skittish. Police notified animal control.
Thursday, August 29
10:17 p.m. Police wrote a citation to a driver stopped for swerving on Route 2 near Exit 125. An officer issued the ticket for marked lane violations after the driver of a Toyota Prius passed a field sobriety test.
Friday, August 30
10:34 a.m. An Elm Street mother requested that an officer speak with her nanny “as she had concerns.” Police rendered services.
10:46 p.m. A motorist traveling on Route 2 called to report that the driver of a black Volvo swerving in and out of travel lanes had pulled over and stopped at the All Town Mobil. Police arrested a 66-year-old Concord man and charged him with driving under the influence. A tow truck removed the car from the parking lot.
Saturday, August 31
12:51 p.m. A Walden Terrace resident reported “an olive-skinned man” was walking around the neighborhood taking pictures of houses with a professional-style camera. Police found the photographer at Thoreau and Hubbard Streets and found no issues, as the man was a foreign tourist taking photos from a public sidewalk.
11:54 p.m. Numerous West Concord 911 callers reported hearing fireworks or gunshots around Laws Brook Road, Conant Street, and Hillside Avenue and near Thoreau School. Police spoke with a resident who confirmed seeing fireworks, but they found nothing suspicious.
Sunday, September 1
1:07 p.m. A Plainfield Road homeowner reported sounds of fireworks or gunshots coming from the direction of the wetlands on the south side of his property. Local officers notified Sudbury Police, but neither department found anything suspicious.
Monday, September 2
9:35 a.m. A Monument Street caller reported hearing what sounded like five gunshots. Police confirmed it was opening day for goose season, but officers could not find any hunters and heard no shots.
1:27 p.m. A Barretts Mill Road resident called about her dog — a female, brindle-colored shih tzu named Mimi — who was missing for 20 minutes. Mimi was wearing “only” a gray tick collar. Police notified the animal control officer.
4:11 p.m. Multiple 911 callers reported a two-car crash on Sudbury Road with damage and airbag deployment to both vehicles. Emergency responders took one person with minor injuries to Emerson Hospital. Police said one car crossed the double-yellow center line and sideswiped another traveling in the opposite direction. Sudbury Road was closed to traffic for about an hour as emergency responders handled the scene. A tow truck removed both cars.
Tuesday, September 3
7:25 a.m. Police arrested a 48-year-old Belmont man witnesses said was acting erratically and yelling at children waiting for a school bus before he randomly attacked a Walden Street resident. The resident flagged down a jogger, screaming for her to call 911, as the unknown man attacked him. By the time police arrived, the resident had pepper-sprayed the alleged assailant, who attempted to get back into his vehicle to leave and who resisted officers as they took him into custody, police said. Police charged Karl Haglund with assault and battery, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Arraignment information was not available at press time.
Arraignment Update
Richard Cincotta, 63, of Derry, New Hampshire, was held on bail on August 26 following his arraignment in Concord District Court on charges of driving under the influence, fourth offense, and possession of a Class B substance. He will remain at Middlesex Jail until his next court date on September 25. Cincotta’s lawyers filed a petition for bail review on August 30.
Ivania Teixeira, 32, of Concord, was held on bail on August 26 following an arraignment in Concord District Court on charges of operating under the influence, second offense; child endangerment while OUI; leaving the scene of a crash with property damage; negligent operation of a car; marked lanes violations; and assault and battery on a police officer. A judge issued conditions around the terms of her release on bail. Teixeira is due back in court on October 23.
