There’s nothing unprecedented about naming a school after a particular historical figure.

I am writing as a Concord resident, mother of three school-aged children (one in middle school), and a career teacher.
How wonderful for our students to be able to have a window into the life of a Black woman in the 1800’s.
This dark, simplistic view is presentism (fitting the past to modern prejudices). It is insensitive and wrong.
