Boys’ Soccer: Clinched the Dual County League large Championship with a 4-0 win at Bedford on October 26. Seniors Sean Fernandez-Davila and Brady Poor (15th of the season) each scored for the Patriots. The other two goals were by juniors Eli Siefer and Jamo Velez (also an assist). On October 24, the Patriots won at Weston 3-0 behind goals by junior Miles Mattaliamo and senior Stage Casparis in the first half. Jamo Velez closed out the scoring on an assist by senior Peter Morris. The varsity closed out its regular season with a 1-0 at sixth-ranked in Division Two Oliver Ames High School. The Tigers came into the game on a 10-game win streak. Senior Captain Doug Fortier scored the only goal on an assist from fellow senior Captain Brady Poor, in a game played at times in pouring rain. The team now awaits the Division One tournament brackets, which will be released on November 1. C-C, 15-0-1, is currently #1 in the Division Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association power rankings.
The junior varsity boys finished their season on a six-game win streak and concluded the season with a 9-5-1 record. Playing their last three games on the road, the Patriots won 8-0 at Weston with sophomore Isah Nichol scoring two goals. Also scoring were juniors Joe Park, Eleyzar De Souza and Joao Bastos. Sophomores Ben Goorno, Thomas Milioli and Chris Rigazio also scored. Sophomores Carter Hack and Nico Kocic combined on the clean sheet. Junior Hector Derzi scored the lone goal in the 1-0 at Bedford with an assist from sophomore Joe Ferrari. Kocic and Hack combined on another clean sheet. In the season finale at Olive Ames, playing in the rain, juniors Charlie Stone and Derzi, and sophomore Ferrari scored second-half goals. Kocic had the shutout, the team’s sixth consecutive. Junior Defender Tom Mulvaney made a great save in the first half after Kocic had made a stop, but Oliver Ames got a shot off the rebound that Mulvaney prevented from going in.
Girls’ Soccer: Clinched the DCL Championship with a 6-0 win over Bedford on Senior Night on October 26. With the win, the Patriots finished 9-0-1 in the DCL and are 12-3-2 with one regular season game to play. Before the game, the 13 seniors were honored: Mia Avini, Alleyne Berlam, Caroline Coletti, Charlotte DiRocco, Kelly Fletcher, Nathalie Gahan, Sofia Girolimetti, Emma Gower, Cecilia Hetling, Trinity Johnson, Kennedy Johnson, Cara Ubaldino and Lauren Zipoli.
“They are a great group,” Head Coach Peter Fischelis said of the seniors. “They have played together for a long time.”
The six goals were scored by six different players, including five seniors. Team Captain Coletti scored her 20th of the season. Also finding the back of the net were Ubaldino, Trinity Johnson, Fletcher, Gower and ninth-grader Ainsley Siefer.
In the 4-0 win over Weston at home, Coletti led the offense with her first career hat trick. Fellow senior Fletcher added a goal and an assist.
Asked about her goal scoring this season, Coletti said, “My teammates had done a great job in finding me in open spaces, giving me the chances to score… Coming into my senior year, I was trying to relax more and not think about scoring.”
The teams’ goal was to win the DCL, which they did for the first time since 2018.
“This is a special team,” Fischelis said. “Overall, I couldn’t be happier.”
Added Coletti, “We are playing well going into the tournament… If we play our game, we can compete with anyone.”
Field Hockey: Played its lone game of the week at Needham on October 27. The Patriots won 1-0 on the road. Ninth-grader Avery Swenson scored the lone goal. Junior Goalkeeper Crista Celi had six saves in shutting out Needham.
The team is currently ranked ninth in the MIAA power rankings. The final seedings and bracket will be released on October 31.
“We are looking forward to a great tournament run,” said Head Coach Jacqui Turner.
Girls’ Volleyball: The MIAA released the Division One Volleyball tournament brackets and Concord-Carlisle is the #25 seed with a record of 9-11. The Patriots will travel play #8 seed Bishop Feehan at Feehan on November 2 at 5:15 p.m.
The Concord-Carlisle Volleyballers started their last week of the regular season by traveling to Lincoln-Sudbury for their Dig Pink Match on October 24. C-C came up short against the rival Warriors 14-25, 19-25, 25-16, and 13-25. Contributing eight points each were senior Outside Hitter Lily Johnson (three kills, three aces, two blocks), senior Outside Hitter Isabel Jaffe (seven kills and one ace) and junior Middle Hitter Gabby Kakas (five kills and three blocks). Sophomore Setter April Tang not only had 22 assists, but also led the defense with 13 digs. Continuing their season and ending four straight road games on Wednesday, the Patriots defeated Lawrence in straight sets, 25-16, 25-16, and 25-11.
Johnson led the team in serving with eight aces and finished with 15 points (seven kills), Kakas spearheaded the offense with a team-high eight kills and senior Middle Hitter Maddie Smack jumped to a team-high six blocks. Senior Bella DiRocco anchored the defense with 22 digs.
Finishing the regular season at Newton South on Friday, C-C won the first set 25-23 against the Dual County League Leaders, but fell in the next three sets 21-25, 16-25, 15-25 to end the regular season at 9-11. Kakas tallied 11 points (five kills, six blocks), Johnson struck for eight points (four aces, four kills) and junior Opposite Hitter Reese McCullar added five points (four kills, one block).
Though the JV and ninth-grade teams lost to Lawrence, both teams had some standout play. For the JV team, sophomore Outside Hitters Grace DeAngelis and Nicole O’Reilly turned in strong performances. Also contributing were sophomores Isabell Benamar and Jesse Molloy. On the ninth-grade team, Mackenna Antonangeli, Aly Finizio and Sophia Paradissis all played well.
Cross Country: The Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country Teams competed in the DCL Championship meet on Friday, October 28. The races were 5K in length. The Varsity team finished fifth in the large school division behind four of the top teams in the state: Newton South, Cambridge Rindge and Latin, Westford Academy and Acton-Boxborough. Senior Thomas Rivier was the top Concord-Carlisle finisher at 19th. He was followed by sophomores Brendan Quinn (23), Charlie MacDonald (22), Luke Crounse (29), Joey Bodenrader (33) and Adam Synnestvedt (36) and senior Liam Quinn (37). In the JV race, Concord finished second behind Newton South. Ninth-grader Sawyer Bout was the top finisher (fifth) for Concord-Carlisle, earning his first DCL medal.
Next up for the boys’ team is the Massachusetts State Track Association Frank Mooney Coaches Invitational on Saturday, November 4. This will be the last meet for all but the top 10 athletes. The top 10 will compete at the MIAA Division 1B State meet in Gardner on Saturday, November 11.
Girls’ Cross Country team finished sixth at the DCL meet in the large school division. Ninth-grader Maria Chopas was the first C-C finisher, in 14th. Fellow ninth-grader Alex Skelly (21st) was the second Patriots finisher. Following her was ninth-grader Abigail Adams (27th), junior Isabel Crowell (33), ninth-grader Allison Sheppard (36), senior Charlotte Skelly (39) and senior Claire Beckley (40). In the girls’ JV race, junior Ava Pascucci was the first C-C finisher, in 9th. She was followed by senior Brooke Boyle (13), ninth-grader Juniper Flint (22), senior Victoria Jiang (30), senior Jill Evans (34), senior Camden Tyson (38) and sophomore Emerson Wright (48).
The girls will also be running on Saturday, November 11 in the MIAA Division 1B State Meet. Both teams will compete in the All-State Meet on Saturday, November 18 at the Devens Athletic Complex.
Golf: In Division One Central Sectionals at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton, the team finished third and qualified for the state tournament. The team’s top four finishers combined for a 312, nine shots behind first-place finisher St. John’s Prep. Junior Will Spring lead the Patriots with a four-over-par 76. Right behind him was Freshman Jake Erston with a 77. Freshman Glen Murdaugh (78) and sophomore Ahrinn Desai (81) rounded out the top four. Junior Erika Redmond shot an 84 and freshman Sophie Redmond had an 86. The state tournament has been moved from Monday, October 30 to Tuesday due to the weather forecast.
