The Dual County League champion CCHS girls varsity soccer team’s season came to a heartbreaking conclusion last Saturday with a 4-1 loss to King Philip Regional High School.
The Patriots advanced to the Sweet Sixteen after a powerful November 5 win over Algonquin Regional High School. The team entered the MIAA tournament ranked 11th in the state with a record of 11-5-2, while King Philip Regional entered as the sixth seed with a record of 16-2-0.
Concord-Carlisle started the game strong, but King Philip quickly put three goals in the net by halftime. CC sophomore Kendall Johnson scored from inside the box in the second half, but King Philip answered with another goal to finish the game 4-1.
The season’s close completes the CC soccer careers of eight graduating seniors: captains Avery Cox, Abby Gibson and Nora Smith; Sarah Anjoorian, Alissa Bono, Ali Davagian, Molly McCullough, and Audrey Yeyinmen.
