Concord-Carlisle’s boys soccer ended its postseason with a 2-1 loss to St. John’s Prep.

CC came out strong, and SJP was there to counter. The game stayed scoreless for the first 22 minutes.

Then a pair who have had success all season found the magic again: Mike Jantzen slotted a pass to Jamo Velez, who blasted a left-footed turf burner past the St. John’s keeper for a CC goal. The Patriots led 1-0 at halftime.

CC contained SJP at the beginning of the second half, as keeper Stoddard Healy played arguably his best game of the season. CC continued strong, but SJP converted a penalty kick to tie the score.

CC and SJP both had long throw-in specialists. SJP made a long toss into the box, and the ball went in off a deflection, making the score 2-1 SJP.

CC kept up the pressure, and Matias Bout caught the SJP keeper out of the net. He nearly converted a 40-yard boot, but the keeper dived to save it.

With seconds to go, P.J. Jantzen managed two last throw-ins — and Cole Henschke nearly converted one — but the clock ran out, and SJP prevailed 2-1.

The Patriots finished their season at 13-3-3, with multiple players earning individual accolades.

Jameson Velez and Cole Henschke received All-State honors; Velez, Henschke, and Eli Siefer were named All-DCL players; and Ky Pavlik, Matias Bout, and Jack Peppercorn were named First Team DCL All-Stars.
