CCHS girls basketball optimistic about coming season

The girls basketball team will open its winter season December 20 against Cambridge Rindge and Latin.

The 2024-25 team is a mixture of returning players and promising newcomers and will be led by four key seniors.

Addie Shen is returning captain and a league all-star and has recently committed to New Jersey Institute of Technology to play college basketball. Shen, out this preseason with an injury, hopes to return later in the month.

Point guard Jill Brennan returns off a league all-star campaign and will be in charge of running the Patriots offense. Brennan recently demonstrated her formidable game in a pre-season scrimmage. Ali Davagian, a well-rounded guard/small forward, is a vocal leader who can score inside and out and rebounds well.

Finally, senior Teagan Morrissey returns to the team after a yearlong hiatus due to an injury. Morrissey is relentless on the court, an athletic defender, and able to get to the rim and score with either hand.

Returning juniors include sharpshooter Camila Bury, a well-balanced and improved Nicole O’Reilly, and Beulah Odunze, who earned valuable game experience last year. Returning sophomore May Isenberg has worked hard in the offseason and on the AAU circuit and is expected to be a steady contributor. The other returning player, Alex Hooven, had a great first scrimmage and could provide a lift inside this year. Newcomers are sophomores Natalie Saak, Vivi Myles, Carlotta Koerte, and Elise Overbay, as well as freshmen Paige Diperna and Amira Chaudhary.

Last year, the Patriots finished the regular season 10-10, qualifying for the MIAA state playoffs but losing to Plymouth South in a close game on the road. CC lost three players from that roster, including Boston Globe All-Scholastic selection and leading scorer Brooke Boyle.
